Installation
- Copy the
yt-lightbox-gallery-enhancerfolder to your WordPress plugins directory (wp-content/plugins/) - Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress
- Go to Settings > Lightbox Gallery to configure options
- Add a gallery using WordPress's native gallery block or
[gallery]shortcode
Usage
Basic Gallery
Simply create a gallery using WordPress's built-in gallery functionality:
Block Editor (Gutenberg):
- Add a Gallery block
- Upload or select images
- The lightbox will automatically enhance it
Classic Editor:
[gallery ids="1,2,3,4,5"]
Gallery Attributes
The plugin supports all native WordPress gallery attributes:

Parameters:
ids: Comma-separated attachment IDscolumns: Number of columns (1-9)size: Thumbnail size (thumbnail, medium, large, full)link: Must be "file" for lightbox to work
Configuration
Navigate to Settings > Lightbox Gallery to configure:
Display Options
- Enable Lightbox: Toggle lightbox functionality on/off
- Show Captions: Display image captions/titles in lightbox
- Show Image Counter: Display current image position (e.g., "1 / 5")
Appearance
- Overlay Color: Choose background overlay color (default: black #000000)
- Overlay Opacity: Set opacity from 0.0 to 1.0 (default: 0.9)
- Animation Speed: Set transition speed in milliseconds (100-1000ms, default: 300ms)
Navigation
- Keyboard Navigation: Enable arrow keys and ESC (default: on)
- Touch Swipe: Enable swipe gestures on mobile (default: on)
Keyboard Shortcuts
When lightbox is open:
- Arrow Right or Arrow Left: Navigate between images
- ESC: Close lightbox
Touch Gestures
On mobile devices:
- Swipe Left: Next image
- Swipe Right: Previous image
- Tap Overlay: Close lightbox
